Danny Wollesen

Danny Wollesen, age 77, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Daniel Harold Wollesen was born on August 5, 1936, to parents Harold and Ann (Bohms) Wollesen in Dixon, IL. He grew up in Wall Lake, IA and attended all his primary education there. He was baptized and confirmed in the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake, IA, where he was a lifelong member and also served as an elder.

He met the love of his life in Grace Margaret Freese, and they were married June 18, 1954 at the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake. This union was blessed with two children: Terri and Timothy. Danny was an extremely hard worker and provided for his family by farming, working construction, was a foreman at Boyer Valley, and was the owner and operator of Wollesen Trucking. He had recently retired in 2012. He was active in church activities, and loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was also there to support his grandson’s racing. He will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Grace; daughter Terri Boeckman of Wall Lake, IA and son Tim (Dawn) Wollesen of Olathe, KS; grandchildren: Heather Nissen (friend Chris Wagner) of Sac City, IA, Andrew (Brook) Boeckman of Sac City, IA, Colton Wollesen of Olathe, KS, Pia Korsnes of Norway, and Iris Jacke of Gemany; great-grandchildren: Samantha, Ethan, and Haylee Nissen, and Brooklyn, Brianna, Brody, Evan and Brynn Boeckman; sisters: LaDonna Shannon of Phoenix, AZ, and Kathleen Hunt of Denison, IA; brothers-in-law: Ralph (Linda) Freese, and Bobby (Wanda) Freese; sisters-in-law: Katie (Pete) Lamaak, Pearl (Don) Kelly, Clara Freese, Eula Mae Freese, and Shirley Freese; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
