Kevin Duane Borkowski, age 54, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at his home in Sac City. A Celebration of Life will be held on Monday, from 4:00-6:00 p.m., with a "Time of Remembrance" and luncheon at 6:00 p.m. in the basement lunchroom at the funeral home.
Kevin was born on December 6, 1962, in Storm Lake, IA, to Laverne Earl and Judith Matilda (Anderson) Borkowski. He was baptized December 30, 1962 at the Lutheran Church in Storm Lake and confirmed on May 15, 1977 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, IA. He received his elementary education in Webster and graduated from Washington High School, Cherokee, IA, in 1981.
On October 6, 1984, Kevin was united in marriage to Kim Stout at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee. Kevin and Kim made their home in Sac City. Kevin worked as a machinist but is very well known around the area for his talent as a DJ. He loved anything automotive, drag racing, singing, playing in his band, and being a DJ. Kevin never met a stranger and everyone who knew him; knew he loved to talk. He always had a quirky sense of humor, loved April Fool’s Day and knew where all the good buffets were at. He remembered birthdays and other special days with a phone call or one of his signature bear hugs.
Kevin knew Kim was going to be his wife after seeing her the first time in her prom dress. They shared 33 wonderful years together and loved to travel the United States with Branson, Missouri being their favorite destination.
Kevin liked things in a special order, money had to be facing the same way and in numerical order. He had a thing for cases; he would put a case in a case in a case and it took him forever to wrap things up, especially music cords, because everything had to be just perfect.
Survivors include his wife, Kim Borkowski of Sac City; his brothers: Scott Borkowski of Boone, Todd (Pam) Borkowski of Boone, Mark (Sara) Borkowski of Rutland, VT, and Jason (Lisa) Borkowski of Boone; his sisters: Kristi (Mark) Herrera of Cherokee and Julie (Sean) Lee of Anita; mother-in-law Lois Stout of Rockwell City; brother-in-law Corey (Toni) Stout of Rockwell City; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Kevin was preceded in death by his parents, Lavern and Judy Borkowski and father-in-law Merle Stout.
In remembrance of Kevin, after leaving this service or sometime during the next week, everyone needs to eat an ice cream cone, bacon, chicken, pizza or eat at his favorite restaurant, Pizza Ranch, in memory of Kevin.
