Lance Mandernach, age 48 of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2017. His smile was contagious and was something he gladly shared with family, friends, and strangers alike. Lance Christopher Mandernach was born on December 5, 1968, to parents Lloyd and Burnice (Davis) Mandernach at Loring Hospital in Sac City. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. Lance was raised in Sac City, attending elementary school there and later graduated with the Sac City High School Class of 1987. Lance went on to attend a year of college at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA.

   On June 26, 1999, Lance married Molli Minnmann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City. Lance loved his family. He loved being a husband to Molli and he deeply cherished his children, Ally and Brock. Lance worked as a Route Salesman for AE Dairy for over 24 years. He made many friends while out on his route and they will tell you he knew how to bring smiles to their faces.

   Lance was a handy-man around the farm. He could fix just about anything and he loved to build. Over the years he helped numerous friends and family members with different building/carpentry projects. Lance was a dedicated volunteer coach for the summer youth baseball program and youth football for many years, allowing him to watch Brock grow in the sports. He loved every minute of it. He also loved watching Ally dance and cheer, and enjoyed teaching her the game of golf.  He was so proud that she was attending college and pursuing her dreams. She valued his advice and life lessons. In his younger years, Lance spent a lot of time snowmobiling and took trips with his brothers and nephews. Lance loved to travel with his wife and children.  They traveled extensively all over the United States.  He had a special place in his heart for the state of Wyoming.  He and Molli had recently taken several trips to Mexico and enjoyed their time together there. Lance loved to fish and enjoyed the many fishing trips he went on with his friends and family.   Those moments and memories will especially be treasured.

   Lance leaves behind his wife, Molli; children: Ally (Christopher Villhauer) and Brock Mandernach of Sac City, IA; sisters: Linella Mandernach of Sac City, IA, and Lorri (Mike) Thomsen of Rockwell City, IA; brothers: Lloyd, Jr. (Joy) Mandernach of Sac City, IA, Lee (Natalie) Mandernach of Sac City, IA, and Larry (Karen) Mandernach of Grimes, IA; aunts Nelma (Red) Byriel of Lytton, IA, and Ramona Davis of Lakeville, MN; parents-in-law Dr. Jack and Jeri Bottenfield of Torrington, WY; sister-in-law Keri (Shane) Hime of Torrington, WY; many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and all his close friends that he loved like family.

   Lance is preceded in death by his parents Lloyd and Burnice; brother-in-law Andy Long; father-in-law Lynn Minnmann; grandmother-in-law Martha Schwanz; grandparents Howard and Lillian Davis, William and Josephine Mandernach; several aunts and uncles.

   In LIEU of FLOWERS, the family will be setting up a memorial fund in Lance's name that will benefit the Sac City Summer Rec Program/Tolan Field...Lance spent many hours volunteering his time and talents to the program, especially down at the ball field.
