Iva Boisen, age 94, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Iva Cecilia O’Tool was born on November 22, 1922, to William Francis and Coletta Christine (Schelle) O’Tool in Breda, IA. She was baptized in the Catholic Church in Auburn, IA, as an infant and confirmed her faith on March 26, 1960 in the Catholic Church in Schaller, IA. Iva grew up in Kniest Township, near Carroll, IA, and attended catholic schools in Breda, Mt. Carmel and Kniest Township.
On September 25, 1945, Iva was united in marriage to Luvern Boisen in Sac County, IA. Two sons were born to this union: Darrell and Dwight. They made their home in Sac City. Iva was a wonderful wife and mother, providing a loving home and supportive environment for her family. She treasured her sons and adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Iva worked at several restaurants and as an aide in several nursing homes. When they lived in Atlantic, IA, Iva was the housekeeping manager of the “Wise Owl Motel.” She enjoyed playing cards with a small 500 Card Club, visiting with the members of the Coffee Times Group, quilting, crafts, counted cross stitch, sharing with old friends and attending car races. Iva loved painting, specializing in scenery paining, which are still hanging in her home today. Iva was a long standing, grateful, member of the world-wide fellowship of Al-Anon Family Groups. Community involvement included: member of Help Your Neighbor Group (HYN), Sac City Lions (being awarded the Warren Coleman Honorary Award from the Iowa Lions Foundation). Iva also helped the Sac City Knights of Columbus with events and fundraising. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her son Dwight Boisen and wife Deb of Mason City, IA; grandchildren: Robin Boisen of Des Moines, Jared Boisen of Oskaloosa, and Scott Boisen and wife Kate of Mt Pleasant and their children, Lauren and Ava. Other survivors include her brother Melvin O’Tool of Boone; several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Iva was preceded in death by her parents; husband “Hank”; son Darrell; sisters: Dorothy Pollman, Darlene Gross; and brothers: Arnim, Lowell and Roger O’Tool.
