Alice May (Williams) Fredericksen, age 98, of Nemaha, IA, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2016, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA.  Alice was born on July 29, 1918, on the family farm near Nemaha, IA, to John M. and Mathilda V. DeBourgh Williams.  She grew up on the farm receiving her elementary education at Douglas Township Country School and graduated from Nemaha High School in 1936.

In November of 1948, Alice was united in marriage to Donald Lee Fredericksen on the family farm.  Together they raised four children: David, Alan, Marilee, and Jonelle.

Alice was a devoted wife, mother, and incredible homemaker.  Caring for her family and creating a wonderful home for her children and grandchildren brought her great joy.  She decorated cakes for all occasions, enjoyed quilting, gardening, attending her children’s and grandchildren’s events and fishing with family.  She loved her dogs and all shared buttered toast with mom for breakfast.  Through the years she was tolerant of all the friends and stray animals her kids brought home.  Alice was a devoted 4-H participant, leader, mom, wife, aunt, sister, grandmother, and great-great grandmother.

Alice was a 50 year member of the United Methodist Church in Nemaha and of the Order of Eastern Star.  She served as Past Matron of Eastern Star, member of the UMW Ladies Aid, Danish Sisterhood, Garden Club, and Department chair of sewing, flowers, arts and crafts for the Sac County Fair.  Alice will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her children: Alan (Christine) Fredericksen of Flagstaff, AZ; Marilee (Bill) Kleespies of Rolfe, IA; and Jonelle Chapman of North Platte, NE;  daughter-in-law Meredith Sugg of New Orleans, LA; 11 grandchildren: Melanie (Charles) Linder, of Kyle, TX, Julie Speer of Chicago, IL, Sean (Nichol) Kleespies of Newell, IA, Tom (Leslynn) Kleespies of Longmont, CO, Rob (Val) Kleespies of Eunice, NM, Allie (Derek) Wirtz of West Bend, IA, Katie Chapman of North Platte, NE, Aaron Chapman of North Platte, NE, Melisa (Chuck)  Severenti of Paige, AZ, Matt (Suzanne) Fredericksen of Phoenix, AZ, and Jarrod (Ashley) Fredericksen of Las Vegas, NV; 20 great-grandchildren: Josh, Sam, and Jane Linder; Cole and Mia Kleespies; Bailey and Clay Kleespies; Collin and Harper Wirtz; Morgan and Andrew Severenti; Sage, Olivia, Sena and Julia Fredericksen; Greer Fredericksen; Alex Speer; Dylan Chapman; Mattis and Addison Chapman; many nieces and nephews; extended family members and friends.

“Sorry for your loss. You may not remember me--My parents were LaVerne and Verna Fyfe. Alice was such a kind, considerate and gracious lady. My mom really enjoyed being around her. The Williams, Fyfes and Johnsons were all like family to each other in the old days. I visited with her when she was hospitalized in 2011--she remembered me after all these years!! I know you have many, many good memories of her. Cherish them always.”

“So sorry for your loss. Alice had kept active in the Nemaha Community including coming to church long after she moved off the farm. I have a treasured memory of a youth group who met at her house. She was kind to everyone, even the local youngsters. She will be missed.”
