     William “Bill” LeRoy Johnson, age 81, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at his home in Sac City.  Bill was born on May 2, 1935, to Gerhard and Sophie Johnson at their home near Jolley, IA.  He was baptized at Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton and confirmed his faith at St. Peter Lutheran Church, rural Sac City where he remained a lifetime member.  He graduated from Sac City High School with the class of 1953.  Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army.

     On October 2, 1960, Bill was united in marriage to Donna Karstens at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Lake View.  This union was blessed with a daughter Suzanne.  The family made their home in Sac City.  Bill farmed by Yetter, IA, worked part time as a police officer in Early and Odebolt,  and worked many years as chief of communications for the Sac County Comm Center, retiring in May 2004.  He continued to work part time at Food Pride.

     Bill loved gardening and being with his family.  He was a devoted and loving husband and father who will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

     Survivors include his daughter Suzanne Johnson of Sac City; sister Lucille Anderson; extended family members and many friends.

      Bill was preceded in death by his wife Donna on June 5, 2016; his parents; and uncle Herman Stein.

      In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorials will be given to St. Jude's.
