Richard Killeen, age 72, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Good Samaritan Center of Newell under hospice care.
Richard Charles Killeen was born April 4, 1944 in Carroll, Iowa the son of Eldore T. (Slim) & Dorothy M. (Snyder) Killeen.
He attended Jackson Country School until 1957 when the country schools were closed and graduated from Sac Community High School in 1962.
He was united in marriage to Linda Johnson on February 20, 1965 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Lake City. To this union were born two daughters, Lisa and Kimberly.
Dick spent his life on the farm. He farmed north of Sac City for many years, put machinery together at Thompson Implement, cut trees with Chris Groth and worked for Stabbie Feed & Grinding before going on his own in 1986 tub grinding. He ground hay, corn, cobs, and bark. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac. He was a member of the NRA.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and woodworking. He bowled and shot trap. Dick liked animals, especially dogs. He enjoyed watching car races and westerns.
Survivors include his wife Linda; daughters: Lisa Killeen of Sac City and Kim (Bob) Anderson of Salem; granddaughter Ashley Ohrtman of Newell; great-granddaughter Adrianna Ohrtman of Newell; extended family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Jonathan (Jon) Ohrtman, 2012, and brother, Patrick Killeen, 2012.
