Jack Forbes Johnson, age 84, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View, IA. Jack was born on January 26, 1931, in Boone, IA, to Arthur and Violet Johnson.
On December 30, 1950, Jack was united in marriage to Doris Kraft in Sioux City, IA. They lived in Lisbon and Glidden before settling in Lake View in 1963. This union was blessed with five children: Jackie, Lurrean, Carol, Craig, and Kent.
Jack enjoyed many different jobs in his career. Jack drove a Swans truck, drove a cement truck, managed the Carroll Golf Course, and managed the Spring Lake Golf Course. He later owned Jack’s Golf Cars Inc., and was a part owner of JOMC. In his free time, he liked to go golfing, hunting, fishing and taking boat trips with friends and family down the Mississippi River. Jack was a member of the Jaycees and helped out with the Lake View summer carnival. After retirement, Jack liked to play in senior golf tournaments, and managed the Putt Putt golf in Storm Lake, and helped deliver newspapers.
Survivors include his daughters: Jackie (Bob) Doughman of Council Bluffs, IA, Lori (Al) Bentley of Pegram, TN, Carol (Dale) Gates of Council Bluffs, IA; sons: Craig Johnson of Bixby, OK, Kent (Shannon) Johnson of Augusta, KS; 15 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter; sisters-in-law Betty and Geraldine Johnson of Boone, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Jack was preceded in death by his wife Doris; parents Arthur and Violet Johnson; brothers: Gerald Johnson, Herold (Melva) Johnson, Fred (Maxine) Johnson, Bruce Johnson, Junior (Audrey) Johnson; sisters Maxine Service, JoAnn (Henry) Zubeck, MaryLou (Raymond) Hanson, Pat (Dean) Johnson; sister-in-law Rosie Kraft; brothers-in-law Richard Kraft, Rex Schamel, and Johnny Johnson in infancy.
