Darleene Meusburger, age 88, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2015, at Trinity Center-Luther Park Campus, Des Moines, IA.
Darleene Avon DeBourgh, daughter of Harry Walter and Elizabeth Eleanor (Webster) DeBourgh was born at home in Sac City on June 22, 1927. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church, Sac City. Darleene attended school in the Sac Public School and graduated from Sac Community School with the class of 1946.
On January 19, 1947, Darleene was united in marriage with Warren Craig “Sam” Meusburger, son of James Warren and Ruby Ione (Maxson) Meusburger. To this union was born five children: twin daughters Charlene Rae and Marlene Kae, daughter Patricia Ann, sons James Craig and Brad Lee Meusburger.
Darleene, Sam and family lived in and around Lytton, IA, and owned and published the Lytton Town Crier for ten years. Darleene worked at Iowa Public Service Company in Sac City for 3 1/2 years, then moving to Jefferson, IA, where she was employed as Receptionist at the Greene County Hospital and her final employment was again with Iowa Public Service in Storm Lake, IA, for 19 1/2 years retiring in 1989. She and Sam moved back to Sac City in 1991.
Darleene’s hobbies included knitting, crocheting, embroidering, oil painting, playing piano, organ and saxophone, reading, playing cards, camping and bird watching. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City and past member of Imogene Rebekah Lodge and a member of Order of Eastern Star.
Her survivors include her daughter Charlene Rae and husband Russell Dennis Johnson, Altoona, IA; daughter Marlene Kae and husband Alan Leon Grimm, Altoona, IA; son James Craig and wife Nancy Korleski Meusburger, Sac City, IA; son Brad Lee and wife Beverley Ann Meusburger, Springboro, OH; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; son-in-law Bill Riley; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Darleene was preceded in death by her parents Harry and Elizabeth DeBourgh; husband Sam in 1999; daughter Patricia Ann Riley; parents-in-law Warren and Ruby Meusburger; and sister and brother-in-law Odetta and Winton Cleo Mason.
