Joseph Gilbert Yender was born December 6, 1942, on the family farm north of Early, IA. He was the first of twin boys born to Gilbert and Margaret (Merten) Yender. The family later moved to a farm south and east of Early where he lived until he moved into Early in 2007.
Joe was baptized and confirmed at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Early where he was a life long member. He graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1962.
After graduation, he was engaged in farming with his brother. He was a member of the Iowa National Guard unit in Storm Lake, IA. After quitting farming, he worked at the Nemaha Mill and for various farmers before retiring.
Joe enjoyed golfing, bowling, riding his motorcycle, playing cards and working in his yard. He could be often found tinkering in his garage on some project. He was also an avid collector of golf balls and had quite a collection.
Joe is survived by his twin brother Jim (JoAnne); sister MaryAnn Brinkman; brothers: Louis (Velma), Robert, and Frank (Sheila). He is also survived by nieces and nephews that were dear to his heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law David Brinkman.
