Clara was born on January 20, 1924 in Lake View, Iowa and went home to her Heavenly Father on May 12, 2015.  Clara was the daughter of John and Roma (Robson) Covey.  She graduated from Early Consolidated School in 1942 and attended Buena Vista College graduating with a teaching degree.  Clara taught at Eureka No. 8 Country School in Schaller, Iowa for two years.

   Clara was joined in matrimony with Anthony H. Engel on April 13, 1944 in Early, Iowa.  The couple farmed near Early for 45 years before retiring to the town of Early.  Anthony passed away in 1992.  The couple was blessed with two daughters, Suezette and June.

   In 1995, Clara married Fredrick Kempfert of Alta, where they resided for nine years before sharing the past eleven years living with her two daughers.

   Clara’s hobbies were fishing, camping, dancing, exercising, sewing, reading, playing cards and games, and attending the Senior Center in her later years.

   Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her sister Janet Beers of Sequim, WA; two daughers: Suezette Wollesen and husband Donald of St. Cloud, FL, and June Foss of Draper, UT; five grandchildren: Mike Wollesen of St. Cloud, FL, Jackie Haley of Pocahontas, IA, Aaron Davis of Orem, UT, Adam Davis of Draper, UT, Kate Parkin of West Jordan, UT; eleven great-grandchildren,  and two great-great-grandchildren.

   Clara was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Anthony; second husband Fredrick; sisters Alma Lee (Schramm), Jean (Hokanson), Doris (Sorrells), and brother Stan Covey.
