Bette Jean Phillips, age 90, of Lake View, IA, passed away at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View on Friday, April 17, 2015. Bette was born on February 20, 1925, in Carroll, IA, the only child to Raymond and Augusta (Swieter) Webster. She graduated from Carroll High School.
On August 7, 1942, Bette was united in marriage to Delmar Phillips. She was a member of the Legion Auxilliary, Lakes United Methodist Church, U.M.W., and circle. She liked reading, listening to music, and hand work when she was able to do it. They lived in Boone 15 years where Delmar’s work took him and Bette was bookeeper for Halletts Construction. She worked for Mary Thorkelson for a few years, then back to Lake View where she owned Bette Jeans Dress Shop for 15 years.
Survivors include her husband Delmar; nieces and nephews: Margo Redford, Gloria Sorensen, Scott Phillips and Dennis Holdcroft; brother-in-law Vernis Phillips and wife Marlene of Mapleton, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Augusta Webster.
