Mary Lou Dankel, age 81, of Lake View, passed away Friday, March 13, 2009, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, Iowa. Mary Lou was born to parents Nelson and Therese (Momsen) Hoeg on November 11, 1927, in Lake View, Iowa. She spent her early years in Lake View attending grade school there, and then graduating from Lake View High School in 1945. She went on to further her education at Coe College in Cedar Rapids, IA.

She met and fell in love with Berkeley Dankel and they were married on November 15, 1947, at the home of her parents. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ all her life and received her baptism and confirmation there. Mary Lou worked to make a loving home for her family as a homemaker. She and Berk were blessed with two daughters: Susan and Becky.

She had varied interests which included knitting, baking, and raising her family. She was the consummate mother and her joy in life came from following and supporting the activities of her family. She especially enjoyed spoiling her one and only grandson, Jonathon. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 61 years: Berk; her daughters: Susan Jay of Dallas, TX, and Becky (Dave) Cochran of West Des Moines, IA; grandson: Jonathon Cochran of Belmont, CA; brothers: Dr. Dwight Hoeg of Duluth, MN, Graham (Norma) Hoeg of Lake View; sisters-in-law: Joyce Dankel of Kankakee, IL, and Joann (John) Anderson of Storm Lake, IA.
