LaVon Vogel Herrig, 85, slipped peacefully from this world and into her Savior’s presence on Tuesday, October 7, 2014, in Tyler, Texas.

LaVon was born July 19, 1929, in Wall Lake, Iowa; one of four children born to Paul and Leona Vogel. She married Warren John Herrig in June 1952. Over the next 26 years, LaVon would dedicate her life to raising her three children, Greg, Jeff and Kim while supporting Warren’s career in the US Air Force. LaVon moved to Forth Worth in 1978 and found her place of fellowship at Christ Lutheran Church where she served faithfully until 2012. LaVon served as secretary for Lutheran Women’s Missionary League and Aid Association for Lutherans; she was a Sunday school teacher; as well as a valued member of the Altar Guild. LaVon also sang her praises in the choir. Her love for the Lord was evident in her servant heart. In late 2012, LaVon moved to Tyler, Texas to be closer to family. During her time in Tyler, LaVon’s longtime friends from Forth Worth would often visit and brought her such happiness.

LaVon was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Leona Vogel; her brother, Don Vogel; and her husband, Warren Herrig. We praise God imagining their joyous reunion in Heaven.
