Phyllis J. Grodahl

Phyllis Jean Grodahl, age 87, of Lytton, IA, passed away on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA. Phyllis was born on January 29, 1927 to Herman and Amanda (Dettmann) Kreft in Lytton, IA. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peters Lutheran Church. Phyllis graduated from Lytton High School and attended Iowa State College in Ames, IA where she met her future husband.

On August 29, 1948, she married Wayne Grodahl, at St. Peters Lutheran Church in rural Lytton, IA. They made their home south of Lytton where together they raised three children: Rodney, Jeffrey and Gale. Phyllis was a member of Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. She kept busy volunteering at the church and in the community. Phyllis was a devoted housewife, enjoyed riding horses and sewing in her free time. She was also well known for her homemade cinnamon and caramel rolls. She loved spending time with her grandkids and attending their school events.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Rodney Grodahl and wife Jo of Lytton, IA, Jeffrey Grodahl of Lytton, IA, and Gale Blass of Sac City, IA; seven grandchildren: Jacob, Grant, and Jona Grodahl; Jason (Jill) Grodahl and Kari Grodahl; Amy (Justin) Schroeder and Craig Blass; two great-grandchildren: Evan and Owen Grodahl; sisters-in-law: Judy Drum and Bonnie Grodahl; extended family members and many friends.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Wayne; parents; son-in-law Brian Blass; daughter-in-law Carol Grodahl; brother and sister-in-law Gerald and Betty Kreft and cousin Ronald Dettmann.
