Robert Frank Shull

Bob Shull, age 94, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2012, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Robert Frank Shull was born on January 18, 1918, in Sac City the son of Thomas and Cora (Lane) Shull. Growing up, he attended Sac Community School. In 1944, Robert proudly served in the Navy. He operated a tug boat to bring the ships into the harbor. He was stationed in San Diego, CA.

On January 18, 1939, Robert married Doreen Dewey. They were blessed with three children: John, Sandra and Jerry. They were divorced May 4, 1948.On November 6, 1948, Robert married Ruby Shanks in Blair, NE. They made their home in Sac City. They were blessed with children: Harry and Nancy Shanks and the twins Robert and Richard.

Robert loved creating beautiful flower beds and always had a wonderful garden. He was a talented carpenter and mechanic. Robert worked construction and ran heavy equipment for Paul McCorkle. He took part in building the middle school in Sac City. He enjoyed reading, trains, camping and history. He was active in the First Christian Church and enjoyed singing in the choir. He was treasured by his family. Robert will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Those left to cherish his memory are children John (Bonnie) Shull of Florence, AZ; Sandra (Ray) Millard of Stockton, MO; Jerry Shull of Missouri; Harry Shanks of Wall Lake; Robert (Rebecca) Shull of Lytton; Richard (Karen) Shull of Sac City; grandchildren: John Shanks of Omaha, David (Beth) Shanks of Florida, Ben (Donna) Shanks of Auburn, Sarah (Andy) Segebart of Carroll, Brenda Lawson of Garland, TX, Randy Bartels of Rockwell City, Ross Leonard of Lytton, Blake (Amy) Shull of Sac City, Jerrod (Sheryl) Shull, Eric (Kayla) Shull and Gavin Shull all of Sac City, Tracy Millard, Teresa (Bill) Mills, Tammy (Tim) Burchett and Tetnna Kelley all of Missouri; and 30 great grandchildren; and many extended family members.
