Lonnie C. Brown, age 63 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at his home in Wall Lake. Lonnie Charles Brown was born on October 31, 1949, to parents Charles and Reva (Bonham) Brown in Jefferson, IA. He grew up in the Lake View and Wall Lake, IA, areas attending grade school in Lake View. He graduated from Wall Lake High School with the class of 1968. He went on to further his education at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge obtaining a degree in Criminal Justice. Lonnie was baptized into the Lakes United Methodist Church in Lake View and was later confirmed into the Wall Lake United Methodist Church. He was most recently a member at the Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake.
Lonnie served his country in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War enlisting in 1968. He served two tours and achieved the rank of Sergeant before his honorable discharge in 1972.
He was married to Carletta Stoelk in 1971 and was blessed with four children: Laura, Carla, Teresa and Alicia. He was later married to Janet Harms in 1996 where he gained four step-children: Sara, Josh, Maggie and Ben.
Lonnie worked as a police officer for 22 years in the Wall Lake and Lake View areas before his retirement on December 31, 2004, as Chief of Police. He enjoyed his guns, reading books, collecting coins, bird watching, models, and was an avid golfer-including wii golf. He loved spending time with his daughters, grandkids and other family members and will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
