Maxine M. Kies

Maxine M. Kies, age 81, of Lake View, IA passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Maxine Marie Buse was born on August 28, 1931 to Herman and Martha (Wenck) Buse in rural Ulmer, IA. She attended country school near Ulmer and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1948 as Valedictorian of her class.

Maxine M. Kies, age 81, of Lake View, IA passed away on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake. Maxine Marie Buse was born on August 28, 1931 to Herman and Martha (Wenck) Buse in rural Ulmer, IA. She attended country school near Ulmer and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1948 as Valedictorian of her class. She was baptized at the Ulmer Country Church and a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Wall Lake for many years. After retiring and moving into Lake View they transferred their membership to Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

On September 4, 1949 Maxine was united in marriage to Raymond Kies at the Ulmer Country Church. They made their home south of Wall Lake where Ray farmed. Two daughters; Connie and Marilyn and four sons: Keith, Bruce, Milo and Stan were born to this union. Maxine was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She provided a comfortable and loving home for her family with her great cooking, making the best cherry pies and many family favorites. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren brought her great joy. She also enjoyed traveling, fishing and playing cards with her card club. She enjoyed their home and friends in Lake View after retiring in 1997. Maxine volunteered at Twilight Acres Nursing Home and was a member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid.

Survivors include her husband Raymond; daughters: Connie (James) Fickel of Eugene, OR; Marilyn (Richard) Swircinski of Omaha, NE; Keith (Melodee) Kies of Lake View; and Bruce (Vickie) Kies of Blair, NE; 17 grandchildren: Kristi (Chris) White, Annette and Jeannie Swircinski; Nicholas (Lisa) Kies, Natasha Kies and Spencer Kies; Jeremy (Molly) Kies, Justin (Amy) Kies, and Amanda (Jason) MCCain; Matthew Kies, Mitchell (Becky) Kies, Marshall (Ashley) Kies, Rachael Kies, Brooke (Eric) Blessington, Bailey Kies, Jason (Jill) Kies, and Chad (Kate) Kies; and several great-grandchildren. Other survivors include a daughter-in-law Renata Kies of Wall Lake; sister Donna (Delbert) Graber of Wall Lake; and many extended family members.
