Ina Mae Kraft, age 91 of Fonda, IA, passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City, IA.
Ina Mae Bruns was born on April 28, 1935, in Lake View, IA, to parents Pete and Jenny (Jansen) Bruns. She grew up on a farm east of Lake View and attended country school through the eighth grade near Breda, IA. The family later moved to a farm near Fonda. Ina Mae graduated from Fonda High School with a class of 1953.
Following her education, Ina Mae began working at First National Bank in Fonda and later at the Pomeroy, IA, branch. She dedicated many years to her career in banking before retiring.
On April 5, 1955, Ina Mae was united in marriage to Dale J. Kraft at the Varina Methodist Church in Varina, IA. Ina Mae went to school with Dale’s siblings, Wanda and Harry. Dale worked at their school as a janitor at the time and one night Wanda and Harry wanted to go roller-skating. Dale said he would take them if Wanda would ask that little blonde girl to go along. The rest was history. Together, they built a life centered around family, farming, and shared many adventures.
Ina Mae enjoyed many hobbies throughout her life. She loved playing bingo, taking trips to the casino, and in her younger years, roller-skating and bowling. She took great pride in maintaining a large garden each year. Ina Mae also cherished traveling with Dale, along with their friends and family.
Together, Ina Mae and Dale raised Arabian horses, farmed, and specialized in raising red and white Dutch Belted cattle.
Ina Mae will be remembered for her hard-working nature, her love of family, and the joy she found in the simple pleasures of life.
She is survived by her brother-in-law, Harry Kraft of New York Mills, MN; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and their families as well as many friends.
Ina Mae was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Jenny Bruns; husband Dale; parents-in-law Harry and Amber Kraft; sisters-in-law Wanda (Jack) Miller and Anna Kraft; and brother-in-law Fred (Karen) Kraft.
