Marilyn Fredrichs, age 86 of rural Lake View, IA, passed away peacefully at her home on April 6, 2026, surrounded by her family.
Marilyn Marie Clausen was born on May 7, 1939, to Julius and Helen (Peters) Clausen. She grew up in the Lake View and Breda areas and graduated from Wall Lake High School in 1958.
On November 27, 1960, Marilyn was united in marriage to Herman Fredrichs at Wheatland Presbyterian Church in rural Breda, IA. Their union was blessed with four children: Marlene, Howard, Jeff, and Doreen.
Marilyn was a devoted farm wife who took great pride in her home and family. She worked alongside Herman on the farm, helping with milking cows and tending to chickens. She had a deep love for gardening and raised a large garden each year, along with a cherished strawberry patch. Marilyn spent many hours canning/freezing the fruits of her labor to share with her family.
She enjoyed cooking and baking, always eager to try new recipes. A talented seamstress, Marilyn lovingly made many clothes for her children over the years. She was also an avid quilter and found joy in putting together puzzles.
Marilyn had a creative spirit and enjoyed working with ceramics and painting them. She also collected Christmas village pieces, a hobby that brought her much happiness. She was a devoted fan of country music, especially Johnny Cash, the Statler Brothers, and the Oak Ridge Boys. During the summer months, if Marilyn was out tending her garden, you could often hear her favorite music playing loudly from the open windows of her home.
Above all, Marilyn cherished her family. She especially enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren watching Disney movies, rolling out sugar cookies, coloring, and putting together puzzles. Her love, dedication, and quiet strength will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
