Betty Lou Campbell

Betty Lou Campbell, age 79, of Sac City, Iowa, passed away on November 25, 2014, at her home.Betty Lou was born on March 18, 1935, in Dewey, Oklahoma, to parents Luke and Magdelena (DeBrackeleire) Gregory. The family moved from Oklahoma, to Rock Island, Illinois where Betty attended grade school. Later, the family moved to Pocahontas, Iowa.

On February 23, 1952, Betty was united in marriage in Laurens, Iowa to Arthur Gerald Campbell. She and Arthur were blessed with six children: Charolette, Alexander, Joe, John, Bill and Bob.

Betty was a giving person; there was always a cup of coffee available to anyone who entered her home. She provided meals and baked goods for the VFW bingo get togethers, and provided popcorn at the fair to support the nursing home. Betty was the supervisor of housekeeping and laundry, and a certified nurse’s aid at the nursing home. She made sure every patient was treated with respect and dignity while working at the home. She later retired at age 63. Betty enjoyed camping and fishing, crocheting, making quilts, cooking, baking pies, and square dancing, But most of all, she just enjoyed spending time with her husband, children, 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She made sure every child, grandchild, and great-grandchild had a Christmas gift from her that was often made with her own hands. Betty will be forever missed by those who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her four children: Charlotte Thorn of Carroll, IA, Alexander (Sandie) Campbell of Sac City, IA, John (Linda) Campbell of Wichita, KS, and Bob Campbell of Sac City, IA; three sisters: Lois Holmberg of Storm Lake, IA, Laura Madsen of Storm Lake, IA and Joan (Ron) Trenarry of Rolfe, IA; 13 grandchildren: Lisa and Nicole Campbell, David Thorn, Todd(Jennifer) Thorn, Tanya (Jim) Wanser, Tammy Rebhuhn, Michelle, Mike, Aaron and Sando Scuito, and Mellissa, Angie, and Cory; 13 great-grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
