Marilyn Geery, age 68 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 12, 2023, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Marilyn Ann Rench was born on February 22, 1955, in Sac City to parents DeLoss and Melvina (Knox) Rench. Marilyn, along with her eight siblings, grew up and attended school in Sac City.
Marilyn married Douglas Geery in 1974 in Oskaloosa, IA. Doug passed away that same year in a tragic drowning accident. Marilyn and her two boys, Jim and Doug, stayed in Oskaloosa where she worked for Pella Windows until 1984, before moving back to Sac City. Marilyn then waitressed at the Indian Village in Sac City for several years.
Marilyn had the biggest heart. She loved her boys fiercely and made sure they knew that. She was always up for having a good time and was just fun to be around. She loved a good game of Yahtzee or Dice. She enjoyed bowling and for many years was a league bowler. Marilyn had her own motorcycle that she loved riding. She and her cousin/best friend Jeanie rode whenever they had the chance. She also enjoyed traveling across the country with Dee in his semi and would often times help out by sitting behind the wheel herself.
In 2006, Marilyn moved to Park View in Sac City due to health issues. Despite living in a nursing home for seventeen years, she had such a positive outlook on life. Her room was filled with pictures of all of her loved ones and having them visit brought her heart such great joy. She was so proud of her boys and loved her grandchildren immensely. Her family meant the world to her. Marilyn was someone that even if she hadn’t seen you in a while, could have a conversation as if it was just yesterday you last spoke. She loved her Park View family and they loved her right back. Over the years she grew very close to many staff members there.  She was such a kind soul. Her genuine smile, positive attitude, and generous heart will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish Marilyn’s memory include her sons, Jim (Donna) Geery and Doug (Keri) Geery, all of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Jacob Glass, Kayla (Taggart) Phillips, Justin (Lexi) Geery, Zach (Sam Williams) Geery, and Shelby Geery; great-grandchildren: Parker Phillips, Olson Geery, Jaicee Glass, and Alice Glass; siblings: Jerry (Linda) Rench of Palestine, TX, Tom (Jennifer) Rench of LaVista, NE, Donnie (Joni) Rench of Norwalk, IA, Jane Bennett of Sac City, IA, and Kathy Martin of Sac City, IA; sisters-in-law Marilyn Rench of Thornton, CO, Pat Rench of Milbank, SD, and Barb Rench of Sac City, IA; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

“I am so sorry for your loss. I know Marilyn is in her wonderful heavenly home where she's young and healthy again. I believe Marilyn was the first resident we met at Park View many years ago when we brought Mary Lou there. What a welcoming! Friendly, funny, always positive and caring. We loved her. She was certainly a bright light in our lives. Blessings to Marilyn and to all of you, the family.”

“She could talk, and make you feel like you're the most important person in that room. What I'll remember most is, how she was so positive. She was limited in her abilities, but that didn't stop her from smiling. Marilyn, I'm glad I got to spend some time with you. It's something I'll cherish. Rest in Peace.”
