Carol Domino, age 84 of Sac City, IA, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, IA. Carol Irene Jess was born on October 6, 1938, in Ricketts, IA, to parents Fred and Viola (Boyens) Jess. She was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Ricketts and confirmed there as well. Carol and her family later moved to Charter Oak, IA, where she attended Charter Oak High School.
Carol married Virgil Kuehl and together they had four children: Randy, Tracy, Kandi, and Kelli. They later divorced. On February 14, 1987, Carol married Clarence “Burdette” Domino in Sioux City, IA. They made their home together on a farm northwest of town. Carol enjoyed her home and had a knack for always making it look nice. She loved decorating and was quite good with a can of spray paint. She and Burdette enjoyed hosting card club on Sunday nights as well as family get-togethers at the farm. Carol was a great cook who could make almost anything and everyone always loved eating what she made. She also liked to be outside gardening during the summer months.
Carol had a spunky personality and wasn’t afraid to ‘tell it like it is’. She was always up for a good time, especially with the ladies at Wednesday night bowling league. She was a great friend to many. She had quite the collection of purses, her Vera Bradley bags being her favorite. Carol loved to shop and had a great classy sense of style. She loved her pearls and wore them daily. She was a hard worker, working most of her life in the customer service field which fit her personality quite well. She was a people-person for sure! In her spare time and before her eyesight deteriorated, she enjoyed reading.
The camper was where you could find Carol during the warmer months if she wasn’t at the farm. She LOVED to camp and for many years their camper was parked on a permanent lot in Lake View, IA. Carol was very close to her sisters and spent a lot of time with them and their children, in her later years especially, as most of her kids and grandkids lived several states away. Regardless of the distance though, her love for each and every one of them was strong and she was sure to let them know that. Carol’s big heart, caring and compassionate ways, beautiful smile, and even sometimes feisty personality will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. May she rest in heaven’s glory, where her body has been made new again, in the sweet arms of Jesus.
