Ingna Sweeden, age 89 of Odebolt, IA, passed away on Monday, October 10, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. Ingna Carolina Erickson was born on May 25, 1933, to parents Gustaf and Katie (Lorenzen) Erickson in Boyer Township, Sac County, IA. She grew up in Sac County where she attended country school.
On March 20, 1954, Ingna married Ernest Lee Sweeden. This union was blessed with six children: Stuart, Sherry, Marcy, Judy, Patricia, and Terry. They raised their family in Odebolt where Ingna stayed home to care for the children during their younger years. She then worked at Dupaco in Denison as a Quality Control Inspector for twenty years. After Dupaco closed their doors, Ingna decided to attend Des Moines Area Community College from which she obtained an Associate’s Degree in Clerical Studies. She was then employed by Swanson Insurance in Odebolt as an Administrative Assistant. Ingna retired in 2003.
Ingna enjoyed being outdoors in her garden and always had a large supply of canned goods from it on hand. She enjoyed gathering with friends at card club and was a league bowler who bowled at the state level several times. She was also very involved as a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt. Her deep faith was evident. Ingna put her sewing talent to good use by making small baptismal and baby memorial cloths, confirmation banners, as well as quilts with Lydia’s Circle. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and as a blood donor was a proud member of the American Red Cross Gallon Club.
Ingna loved her family and getting to spend time with them always meant the world to her. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children: Stuart (Lori) Sweeden of Rome, GA, Marcy (Monty) Hahn of Indianola, IA, Judy (Mike) Bieret of Wall Lake, IA, Patricia (Dan) Kienast of Odebolt, IA, and Terry Endelman-Miller of Allison, IA; son-in-law Walter Peters of Highlands Ranch, CO; grandchildren: Courtney Sweeden, Ellyn Patrick-Sweeden, Elliott Peters, Brett (Stine) Peters, Laura (John) Almeida, Erika Lippincott, Jackie (Thad) Diersen, Katie (Ryan) Johnson, Clinton (Jenny) Bieret, Steven (Kristen) Bieret, Brandon (Kat) Kienast, Grant Kienast, Ben Kienast, Rachel Endelman, Candice Endelman, and Travis Endelman; twenty-four great-grandchildren; brother Thomas (Hazel) Erickson of Manning, SC; sister Vera Morgan of Papillion, NE; sister-in-law Rita Erickson of Helena, MT; numerous nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.
