Neil Neitzke, age 87, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at his home in Lake View, IA. Neil William Neitzke was born on June 8, 1935, to parents Walter and Freda (Roseke) Neitzke. He grew up on the family farm near Breda, IA. He was baptized in Breda as an infant. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith in 1949, in Ulmer, IA. Neil graduated from Auburn High School with the class of 1953. After graduation, Neil joined the United States Army and served in Germany.
On January 18, 1970, Neil was united in marriage to Karen (Pemble) at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sac City, IA. This union was blessed with three children: Tierny, David, and Diane. Neil worked many years as a farmer and retired to Black Hawk Lake in 1998. In his spare time, he was a skilled handyman and a skillful refinisher of furniture over the years. He also restored his dad’s 1953 Chevrolet work truck, and tractors. He made many things including a bean buggy featured in Wallace’s Farmer magazine. Neil was involved with his community and served on the board of the Howard Center for many years. He was also a lifelong active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and held many offices. Neil especially enjoyed spending time with his family and will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 52 years Karen of Lake View, IA: and children: Tierny (Tom) Rutt of Spencer, IA, David Neitzke of Des Moines, IA, and Diane (Paul) Richards of Des Moines, IA; grandchildren: Eric and Sarah Rutt and William and Elise Richards; and sister-in-law: Sharon Neitzke.
Neil was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Freda Neitzke; parents-in-law: Frank and Solvy Pemble; brothers: Alan (Dee) and Dean Neitzke. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to the Howard Center or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Sac City, IA.
