Pat Peyton, age 82 of Sac City, IA, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 10. 2022.  Patricia Ruth Peyton was born on March 17, 1940, at the St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, IA to her parents Clarence and Rachel (Stuart) Ringgenberg in Pomeroy, Iowa.    She attended grade school in Pomery and when her family moved to Lytton she attended school there and graduated with the class of 1958 from Lytton Community School.

On July 20, 1958, Pat married the love of her life Duane Peyton, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lytton, IA.  Pat and Duane started their married life in Fonda and then moved to Lytton and eventually settled on the family farm.    After Duane passed away Pat moved to Sac City.   This union was blessed with three children: Kim, Brenda, and Dan.  Pat worked in banking and finance in  Lytton for over 40 years and then finished her banking career at UBI in Sac City.   Pat attended the Lytton Presbyterian Church her entire life and when the building closed Duane and Pat moved their memberships to the Unity Church (Sac City Presbyterian Church).  She served as an elder for several years.    One great accomplishment was starting the Lytton After School Program at the church with Teresa Van Hulzen.   This was for the middle school students at the Rockwell City-Lytton School.   Her After School kids call her Grandma Pat to this day.  Pat enjoyed playing in several card clubs, Red Hats, and having coffee with her many special friends.  She and Duane spent many Saturdays at the Des Moines Farmer’s Market selling their produce and flowers.  Most of all Pat enjoyed being with her family.  She thoroughly enjoyed the role of grandma and was later known as GiGi to the great-granddaughters.  Grandma Pat rarely missed one activity when the girls were in school, was known for her hugs, and looked forward to the phone calls from her granddaughters.  She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Kim (Clayton) Fjerstad of Lytton, IA, Brenda (Bob) Beneke of Palmer, IA, and Dan (Missie) Peyton of Hot Springs, AR; grandchildren: Brooke (Jay) Pacelli, Alyson (Andrei) Murphy, Cassie Fjerstad, and Carolyn Watkins; great-grandchildren: Margaret Rose, Audrey Jo, Vivian Marie, Emerson Francesca, Madison Ann, and Anna Jo; sisters: Carolyn Stille, and Jeanne (Larry) Randolph; additionally many extended family and friends.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband Duane; her parents, Clarence and Rachel Ringgenberg; parents-in-law: Clarence and Vera Peyton; brother: Dean Ringgenberg; and brother-in-law: Gerald Stille.

“Pat and Duane were friends of mine all through school. She was a year younger than me with Duane a year older. We socialized many times in Lytton, and I watch Pat play basketball in high school. (And she was a good player) She enjoyed playing and watching all sports. She was very community mined working many Gala Days keeping track of the money, a hard worker, a wonderful wife, and grandmother. After moving away from Lytton my wife Lana and I still spent time with Pat and Duane. She not only was a relative but a dear friend.”

“Many years ago, Pat, sisters and parents lived next door to the Ditzel family. That's how I first knew her. In later years, when visiting mother Donna, I always checked in at the bank and chatted with Pat. Pat and Duane were so good to my mom and when she celebrated her last birthday (90), she was so excited to see them--she felt as if they were part of her family. The three of them will meet again in Heaven! ”
