Howard Brotherson, age 85 of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on June 12, 2022, at Twilight Acres Nursing Home in Wall Lake, IA.  Howard Dean Brotherson was born on September 19, 1936, in Carroll County, IA to parents Loyal and Phyllis (Jacobs) Brotherson. He grew up South of Wall Lake, IA with his family.  He attended country school and later attended Wall Lake High School.  Howard was baptized and confirmed in the Wheatland Presbyterian Church near Breda, IA, and later became a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Wall Lake, IA.

    On June 1, 1956, Howard was united in marriage to Delores Lambert in Dow City, IA.  This union was blessed with five children:  David, Cindy, Jeff, Mark, and Addie. Howard worked in the feed business early on, and then in 1979, he and Delores bought their cafe and bar, Brotherson’s Feed, in Carnarvon, IA. During this time he also had his feed business that he ran out of the back of the cafe.  After selling the business in 1987, he worked for Tiefenthaler Ag-Line and did odd jobs until his retirement.  Howard had a love for horses and owned many throughout his life. His admiration for his horses was passed on to his children. He enjoyed visiting and helping Cindy and Mark with their horses once they had their own as adults.  Howard and Delores rarely missed a day of going out for a long drive. Many hours were spent on the road in his later years visiting their children and grandchildren. He was so incredibly proud of them and loved them dearly. He also enjoyed visiting and reminiscing with his siblings.

     Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years Delores Brotherson of Wall Lake, IA; children: Cindy (Bryon) Segebart of Schaller, IA; Jeff Brotherson of Wall Lake, IA; and Addie (Jody) Brower of Glidden, IA; daughter-in-law: Patti (Dave) Youll of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Cole, Josh, Christopher, Jill, Kelli, Joe, Chad, Cameron, Austin, Koltin, Hayden, Brogan, Gina, and Maddie; brothers: Leon (Jolene) Brotherson of Avoca, IA, Keith (Ilene) Brotherson of Lake View, IA, Todd (Debbie) Brotherson of Denison, IA; sisters: Sandra Roth of Wall Lake, IA, Jerri Schulte of Lake View, IA, Becky (Bob) Rodman of Whiting, IA; Starr (Doug) Maasen of Missouri Valley, IA; eleven great-grandchildren; and many extended family members.

     He was preceded in death by his parents Loyal and Phyllis Brotherson; sons: David and Mark Brotherson; grandchildren: Jackie Covey and Patrick Brotherson.
