Linda Lee Birt

Linda L. Birt, age 65 of Sac City, IA passed away Monday, November 25, 2013 at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Linda Lee Chriswell was born on July 17, 1948 to parents LeRoy and Elizabeth (Jarvis) Chriswell in Sac City, IA. She was a life long resident of Sac City and attended Sac City Schools. She was a member of the First Christian Church.

Linda married LuVerne Birt on July 24, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Sac City. They were blessed with two children: Brian and Chris. She started work as a waitress in her mothers restaurant, the Green Lantern. She was then a jailer at Sac County LEC before opening S&L Kitchen in Sac City in 1994. She also worked at the Indian Village restaurant and then Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City where she worked until she retired in 1999, due to health reasons.

She enjoyed bingo, cards, and league bowling. She loved to go fishing and camping, and out to coffee with her friends at Hutch’s café. Her family was the greatest love of her life, and she will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband LuVerne of Sac City, IA; son Brian (Kelly) Birt of Groton, CT; daughter Chris Grause of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Brian Phillips, Matthew, Elizabeth, Brianna, and Zachary Birt, and Joshua Tibbs, and Ashley (Blake) Starnes; seven great-grandchildren; brother Richard (Kim) Jarvis of Albert City, IA; and many extended family members and friends.
