Delores “Dee” Jeanette Blessington, age 100 of Lake View, IA, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2022, at Black Hawk Life Care Center. Dee was born on October 21, 1921, to parents Bill and Tena (Meyer) Wright in Carnarvon, IA. She grew up in the Carnarvon area where she attended country school and then later attended the Fort Dodge Beauty Academy from 1938 to 1939.
On September 9, 1940, Dee was united in marriage to the love of her life Marvin Blessington at the Presbyterian Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with two children: Gary and Linda.
Dee was a farm wife and homemaker. Later she worked at the Gambles Store and the Hardware Hank Store in Lake View. At around 70 years old Marvin and Dee bought the Bar and Cafe in Carnarvon, and they owned that for over seven years. Dee served as a trustee and elder at the Presbyterian Church in Auburn. Later in life, she became a member of the First Congregational UCC in Lake View where she belonged to the Ladies Aid. In her spare time, she was a member of the Saddle Club, enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, flowers, dancing, and playing cards.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Gary Blessington (significant other Betty Wessman) of Lake View, IA and Linda (Bill) Eichhorn of Lake View, IA; grandchildren: Brian (Liz) Blessington, Jacque Blessington, Christy (Dale) Boeckman, Scott (Kerri) Eichhorn, Jodi (Chris) Grote; great-grandchildren: Allyson (Kyle) Leners, Caitlyn (Brian) Hecht, Tanner, Caleb, Scottie Eichhorn, Connor, and Olivia Grote; sister: Donna Daiker of MN; great-great-grandchildren: Avery, Abi, Adilynn, Eastynn, Blake, and Kacen; several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Blessington; parents Bill and Tena Wright; brothers and sisters-in-law Wayne and June, Robert and Alberta, Kenneth and Donna, and Melvin and Mildred; sisters and brothers-in-law Darlane and Ren Campbell, Elenora and Ivan Wurr, Dorothy and Harold Hintz, and Ivan Daiker; daughter-in-law Vicki Blessington.
