Mozelle L. Sosalla

Mozelle Lorraine Sosalla, age 94, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston, IA. Mozelle was born on June 16, 1919, in Hendrum, MN, to Martin and Clara (Selness) Hamre. She graduated from Hendrum High School in 1937 and continued her education at a business college in North Dakota. She worked as a bookkeeper for REA in Baker, ND before her marriage to Harry Sosalla, May 13, 1942 in Leeds, ND.

They moved to Sac City when Harry took a job with Noble Manufacturing. Mozelle was a busy homemaker with eight children to care for. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Ladies Guild. She served as treasurer, choir director and taught Catechism. She enjoyed her volunteer work at Loring Hospital and helped with meals on wheels.

Mozelle was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her children: Retired Lt. Col. Phillip (LouAnn) Sosalla of Colorado Springs, CO; Caye (Thomas) Fulcher of Omaha, NE; Richard (Diana) Sosalla of Cambridge, IA; Hon. Robert (Sandy) Sosalla of Cedar Rapids, IA; David (Lynn) Sosalla of Marina Del Ray, CA; Angela (Ross) McKie of Rapid City, SD; Theresa (Brian) Weldon of Le Claire, IA; 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; extended family members and friends.
