Kalia Dream Vreeland, infant daughter of Zachary Vreeland and Kaylee Gergis, was born on August 7, 2021, in Iowa City, IA. She was as perfect as a newborn baby girl could be. To hold her in their arms for the first time was a moment both of her parents will never forget. With her beautiful eyes and her newborn ’coos’, she immediately had her parents wrapped around her little fingers. She loved bath-time almost as much as snuggling with her mom and dad. Kalia left her earthly body on Saturday, October 2, 2021, while sleeping peacefully at home. Her time here on earth was short but it was certainly filled with love. May her beautiful soul rest forever in God’s arms for eternity.
Left to mourn her loss are her parents, Zach and Kaylee of Lytton, IA; brother Blayde Pedersen; grandparents: Gary Vreeland of Lytton, IA, Elizabeth Gergis of Sac City, IA, Mike Gergis of Sac City, IA, and step grandfather Heath Hallberg of Sac City, IA; aunts and uncles: Jay (Amanda) Vreeland of Muscatine, IA, Carol (Rachael) Strohm of Duluth, MN, Nikkie (Nick) Peterson of Fort Dodge, IA, Shane (Anna) Zellmer of Sac City, IA, Jacob Gergis of Sac City, IA, and Alex (fiancé Lexi) McGregor of Guthrie Center, IA; great-grandparents Dan Richards of Florida and Kelli Hagler of Missouri; great-aunts Devin Richards of Georgia and Rochelle (Paul) Defever of Idaho; great-uncle Shane Zellmer of Missouri; great-great-grandmother Bonnie Richards of Sac City, IA; and many other extended family members.
Kalia was preceded in death by her grandmother, Deb Vreeland; great-grandparents Loren ‘Swede’ Richards and Samir and Dorothy Gergis.
An Angel in the book of life wrote down our baby's birth...then whispered as she closed the book:
