Mike “Zeke” Corderman, age 65 of Wayland, IA, formerly of Aurelia, IA, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 18, 2021, at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center in Sioux City, IA.
   Michael Dean Corderman was born on July 9, 1955, to parents Daniel and Audrey (McBride) Corderman in Sac City, IA. He attended grade school in Sac City where he and his family lived until moving to Lake City, IA. Mike completed school in Lake City and graduated from Lake City High School with the Class of 1974.  On December 6, 1980, Mike was united in marriage to Susan Blessington at the Presbyterian Church in Auburn, IA. Together, they have five children: Tracy, Shanna, Clint, Chance, and Christa. Mike and Susan raised their family in the Galva and Aurelia communities.
   Mike worked as a farmhand for many area farmers.  He then attended Iowa Lakes Community College in Emmetsburg, IA, in 1992, where he obtained his Associate's Degree in Agriculture. He worked for multiple companies including Aurelia Co-Op, Terra, Diamond Vogel, Premier Sheep Supplies, and at A&N Fishback Acres, where he retired from in February of this year. Mike raised sheep and was president of the Ida County Sheep Producers at one time.
   Mike was involved in Boy Scouts for many years and was especially active when his two boys were scouts. He was artistically talented and loved drawing as well as painting. Most recently, Mike took (and really enjoyed) a glass blowing class which helped him to perfect the art of glass blowing. He also enjoyed the outdoors. He and the boys would go on an annual camping trip where they’d have all kinds of fun target shooting as shooting was another one of his favorite things to do. In his free time, you could find him in his recliner with a fresh bowl of popcorn watching back-to-back episodes of home improvement shows on HGTV, “This Old House” on IPTV, and the Food Network channel.  Back in his earlier years, he built a chopper that he and Susan rode out to Wyoming on. He still has that bike and had hoped to get it running again.
   Of all the things Mike liked to do, spending time with his family was at the top of his list. He was known for making sure everyone had a nickname, starting with Susie, along with many other names he liked to call her. Most nicknames he came up with for everyone else were almost always accompanied by a lil’ ditty he had come up with. He was a great supporter of all of his children throughout their school-age years as he loved attending all of their events. Mike could also be counted on for sporting some pretty original/funny Halloween costumes after Susie twisted his arm. Mike was a special person to so many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
   Left to cherish his memory include his wife Susan Corderman of Wayland, IA; children: Tracy (Steve) Smoley of Rush City, MN, Shanna (Brandon) Carlin of Estherville, IA, Clint (Angie) Corderman of Sioux City, IA, Chance (Amanda) Corderman of Sioux City, IA, and Christa (Drew) Puhrmann of Cherokee, IA; grandchildren: Lilly Smoley, Mary, Nick, and Maci Carlin, Ginger and Thorben Corderman, Anna Corderman, Wyatt and Sloane Puhrmann; mother Audrey Derr of Cherokee, IA; sister Lori (Pat) Henricksen of Pagosa Springs, CO; brother-in-law Randy Blessington of Albuquerque, NM; nephews Alec (Carsyn) Henricksen and Corey Henricksen; many other extended family members and friends.
   Mike was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Corderman; parents-in-law Melvin and Beth Blessington; brothers-in-law Blaine Blessington and Ron Blessington; and infant sister-in-law Sheila Blessington.
