Karen Sylling, age 72 of Lytton, IA, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at her home, surrounded by her family. Karen Ann Sylling was born on July 23, 1948 to parents Glen and Lucille (Preyt) Hinze in Carroll, IA. She grew up in Ulmer, IA and attended Lake View – Auburn High School, graduating with the class of 1966.
She was united in marriage to Jay Sylling on June 30, 1995 in Sac City, IA. With their marriage, they created a blended family of six children: Scott, Donna, Jalyn, Chris, Alicia and Justin. They made their home in Lytton, IA in 2001. Karen worked in retail throughout her life before deciding to retire.
In her free time, Karen enjoyed riding motorcycles and fishing. She was very involved with her grandchildren and always made sure she attended their activities and sporting events.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Jay Sylling of Lytton, IA; children: Scott (Christy) Fister of Lytton, IA, Donna (Ryan) Jessen of Wall Lake, IA, Jalyn Sylling of Renten, WA, Chris (Maria) Sylling of Auburn, WA, Alicia Sylling of Seattle, WA, and Justin (Colleen) Sylling of Eagle Point, OR; 22 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; sisters: Susie (Mike) Penniman of Sac City, IA and Glenda (Denny) Begnoche of Sioux City, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Karen is preceded in death by her parents Glen and Lucille Hinze.
