Monte W. Burns

Monte Burns, age 60, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Loring Hospital in Sac City. On November 12, 1953, Monte Warren Burns was born in Sac City, IA to John and Mary (Davis) Burns. He attended the Sac City schools graduating in 1971. He continued his studies through DMACC in Carroll, IA. Following graduation, Monte enlisted in the United States Navy serving his country from August 1971 through May 1972.

Monte was married to Linda Nelson (Peters) on October 28, 1977 at Hagge Park. To this union three sons were born: Josh, Jed and Jerimiah. They later divorced.

Monte was a metalworker and maintenance worker. He was the guy to go to when you needed something fixed. He loved riding his motorcycle, golf, making music and playing his guitar. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball and was passionate about his grandkids. He was known to have the gift of gab. Loved talking to everybody and was quick to make friends. He was a great dad and devoted grandfather. Monte will be missed by many who knew and loved him.

Survivors include his sons: Josh and wife Bethany Burns of Sac City; Jed Burns of Powell, WY; and Jerimiah and wife Holly Burns of Pleasant Hill, IA; grandchildren: Hannah, Hailey, Bradyn and Brooke Burns; Bereket and Alemitu Burns; and Gary and Jaden Burns; significant other, Janine Hillmer; nephews; his niece he helped raise; Blake and wife Alyssa Pratt; Austin Hillmer and Elizabeth Hillmer; and many extended family members.
