Roger Quail, age 70 of Sac City, IA, passed away surrounded by his family, on Friday, April 26, 2019, at UnityPoint Health-Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, IA. Roger Lee Quail was born on February 26, 1949, to parents William and Mildred (Jackson) Quail in Sac City. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior as a teenager at the Free Methodist Church in Sac City and was baptized as an adult at the First Christian Church in 1970.
Roger and his seven siblings grew up in Sac City. He attended grade school as well as high school in the Sac City Community School District. Roger graduated with the Sac City High School Class of 1969.
On June 7, 1970, Roger married high school sweetheart and love of his life, Shelly Lynn McClintock, at the First Christian Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with one daughter, Dawn Le. Roger and Shelly made their home in Sac City. He worked at various places over the years including Noble Manufacturing, City of Sac City, meat cutter at Bud’s Foodland, McCorkle Construction, Certified Nurses Aide, IBP/Tyson, and the Depot.
Roger loved life. He had a great sense of humor and always kept busy doing things that he enjoyed. In his early adult years he played on a slow pitch softball team. He loved fishing, especially when the whole family could go along and camping was always an adventure. Roger had many special pets over the years, one of his favorites and ‘best buds’ being his dog, Nova. Watching birds gather at the many birdfeeders he placed outside his window brought him great joy. He was a one-of-a-kind guy whose laugh, funny faces (although he was somehow able to keep such a straight face when he told funny jokes/stories, which of course made it all the better) and warm generous heart will be missed by so many. May he rest in peace and may his memories be held close to his loved ones hearts until they are all one day reunited again for eternity. To the great Heaven above, Godspeed Dobbs…. or in his very own words…”Quickly now, quickly”.
He leaves behind to mourn his loss, wife of 48 years, Shelly Quail of Sac City, IA; daughter: Dawn (Marcie) Quail of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Scott (Brianna) Quail, Jon Quail, Jessica Quail all of Sac City, IA, Matthew Bertrand (special friend Jessica Allen) of Vermillion, SD, Tamara Hendrickson of Sac City, IA, Joseph Lindquist of Vermillion, SD, Jacob Lindquist of Sac City, IA; great grandchildren: Wyatt, Jozelyn, Aubrie and Sylus Quail; brothers: Alvin, Gene, and Ed (Micki) Quail all of Sac City, IA, Dennis (Kathryn) Quail of Brookfield, MO, Mike (Leah) of Branson, MO, Jerry (Valerie) Quail of Eldon, MO; sister Linda Shook of Oskaloosa, IA; sisters-in-law: Penny (Louie) Carnine of Sac City, IA, Linda Lynch of Sac City, IA, Judy (Roger) Hagedorn of Spirit Lake, IA; brother-in-law Steve (Theresa) McClintock of Fort Dodge, IA; many extended family members and friends.
