Stephen Craig Beckman, age 71, of Lake View, Iowa passed away at UnityPoint Health Hospital in Fort Dodge, Iowa on February 23, 2019.

Steve was born on August 23, 1947, in Carroll, Iowa to Wally and Mabel (Peters) Beckman.  He graduated from Lake View – Auburn High School in 1966.  He lived in Lake View his entire life except for the two years from October 1966 to October 1968 when he served in the US Army.

Steve worked in road construction after being honorably discharged from the Army and then later doing carpentry work.  He retired in 2007.  He liked to play cards, read books, watch television and take drives around Blackhawk Lake.

He is survived by his sister, Cathy Beckman of Ames; niece Kerri (Beckman) Olson and husband Brian of Grinnell, IA; nephews, Richard Walters and wife Linda of Broken Arrow, OK, Rod Walters and wife Darci of Rockwell City, IA, Randy Walters and wife Tae of Nagasaki, Japan, Rob Libolt and wife Jessica of Center Point, IA; and many great nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents Wally and Mabel Beckman; brother Randy Beckman; and sister Carol (Beckman) Libolt.

“I, along with Barbara Erickson Thompson, have become the unofficial keepers of updates on classmates from the Lake View - Auburn Class of 1966. On behalf of the class we extend our condolences to Steve's family. We are sorry to hear of his passing. The Class of 66 had 44 members. With Steve's passing, 7 have passed away plus 2 who did not graduate with us but were considered classmates. With each passing we think of the good times we had with those classmates through the years attending LVA, from elementary through high school. Steve will be missed by the class members.
