Bill Lorenzen, age 67 of Sioux City, IA, formerly of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at UnityPoint Health – St. Luke’s in Sioux City, surrounded by his family.
William Dale Lorenzen was born on June 4, 1951, to parents Frederick and Edna (Armstrong) Lorenzen at Iowa Wards Memorial Hospital in Primghar, IA. He grew up and went to school in Hartley, IA and graduated with Hartley High School’s Class of 1969.
On August 8, 1970, Bill married Linda Carney. This union was blessed with three daughters: Amy, Stacie, and April. Bill was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bill enjoyed woodworking in his spare time and over the years made many beautiful things. He was a route sales driver for Colonial Baking Company for over 30 years which meant he got to know a lot of people. He made a lot of friends as he delivered goods throughout the area. He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Sac City Fire Department for many years. Bill loved to play golf with his stepfather and daughters. He was an avid Hawkeye fan and especially enjoyed watching their football games.
Bill loved his family and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters: Amy (Jeff) Southerland of Cary, NC, Stacie (Brent) Albenesius of Dakota Dunes, SD, and April (Chad) Peterson of Sac City, IA; grandchildren: Finn Southerland, Reed and Mason Albenesius, and Ava Peterson; former wife Linda Lorenzen of Sac City, IA; brothers: Richard Lorenzen of Apache Junction, AZ, Jim (Suki) Lorenzen of Washington State, Doug (Joy) Popp of Hartley, IA, and Lanny Popp of International Falls, MN; sisters: Barb (Dave) Harn of Sheldon, IA, and Fern VanOtterloo of Hartley, IA; many extended family members and friends.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents: Frederick and Catherine Lorenzen, and Orlin and Edna Popp; brother Frederick Lorenzen; and sister Debbie Miller.
