Anne Gerdes, age 67, of Lake View, IA, passed away on Saturday, November 24, 2018, at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. Anne was born on February 11, 1951, in Sac City, IA, to Charles and Jean (Vrana) Van Sickle. She grew up in Sac City and attended grade school in Sac City and graduated from Sac City High school. Following graduation, she continued her education at AIB in Des Moines.
On August 22, 1969, Anne was united in marriage to Eugene Raymond Gerdes and they were blessed with two daughters: Stacie and Kelli. They made their home in Lake View where Anne worked as a CNA and was the bookkeeper for Midstate's Equipment for 47 years. She retired in 2017 and kept busy by being a member of the Eastern Star Rainbow Girls. Anne enjoyed being outdoors and going snowmobiling, four wheeling, auto racing and mudding with the jeep. She also liked to watch volleyball and spent a lot of time helping her daughter at New Hope. Anne was always taking care of her children and loved being a mother. Anne was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend and will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Eugene Gerdes of Lake View, IA; daughters: Stacie Gerdes of Carroll, IA and Kelli (Chris) Anderson of McIntire, IA; brother Oral (Connie) Van Sickle of Sac City, IA; sister Patricia Wilson of Adel, IA; and other extended family members and friends.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents.
