Wayne Grodahl

Wayne Russell Grodahl, age 87, of Lytton, IA, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA. Wayne was born on November 23, 1926, to Ingebret and Olga (Peterson) Grodahl in Rembrandt, IA. He attended and graduated from High View School, Rembrandt, IA and earned his Ag Degree at Iowa State College, Ames, IA where he met his future wife.

On August 29, 1948, he married Phyllis Kreft, at St. Peters Lutheran Church rural Lytton, IA. They made their home south of Lytton where together they raised three children: Rodney, Jeffrey and Gale.  Wayne farmed along with selling cars for Peters Motors in Carroll, IA. When his sons took over the farming operation, he started a business called Lytton Seed Shed selling corn and soybean seed. He loved this job as it allowed him to visit with people whether it was about seed or anything else.

He was a member of Emanuel-St. John Lutheran Church in Lytton. He enjoyed outings on their boat, family gatherings, and spending time with his grandchildren. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 65 years, Phyllis; his children: Rodney Grodahl and wife Jo of Lytton, Jeffrey Grodahl of Lytton, and Gale Blass of Sac City; seven grandchildren: Jacob, Grant, and Jona Grodahl; Jason (Jill) Grodahl and Kari Grodahl; Amy (Justin) Schroeder and Craig Blass; two great-grandchildren: Evan and Owen Grodahl; sisters-in-law: Judy Drum and Bonnie Grodahl; extended family members and many friends.
