Mable Ann Watson, 89 of Lake City, IA passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Black Hawk Life Care Center in Lake View.
Ann was born on November 4, 1928 to Jay and Iurna Ferguson of Lake View. She grew up- on the family farm with one sister, Phyllis. She attended elementary and high school at Lake View. She continued her education at Buena Vista University in Elementary Education.
In 1952 Mable Ann married and later divorced Eugene Christian but the marriage blessed her with four children: Toni, Tom, Terri, and Tami. In 1973 she met Robert Watson and they were married in 1975. She shared 37 wonderful, and crazy years with him until he passed away in 2012. During those 37 years with Robert they owned and operated a bar in Lake View and bowling alleys in Lake City and Carroll.
Some of Ann's favorite things to do in her "spare" time were entertaining her grand children, playing the piano and singing, cooking, sewing, decorating for the holidays, and playing cards and yahtzee.
Ann's enjoyment of small children made her teaching a wonderful and memorable experience for hundreds of students and for herself. Though she took a few years off to enjoy a couple new chapters with her husband, her passion for teaching never left her. She did return to teaching and continued to teach part time until she was almost 80 years old.
Those left to cherish Mable Ann's memory include her children: Toni(Bobby)Rist of Lake City, Tom Christian of Carroll, Terri(Gerry)Kraus of Ankeny, Tami(Kendall)Holm of Lake City.Grandchildren: Jeremy(Lisa)Wright,Matthew(Susannah)Cole, Andrea(Jeff)Troutner,Tyler(Amber)Holm, Genni(Adrian)Hoyle, Elizabeth(Don)Winker, Tyson Holm, 15 great-grandchildren, extended family, and many, many friends.
