On February 6, 1954, Shirley married Leo Staton at Lakes United Methodist Church. This union was blessed with a daughter, Valerie.
Shirley worked as a teller at the Bank of Lansing for 14 years until the birth of their daughter. She was a wonderful mother and wife who loved unconditionally. She encouraged ideas and adventures while keeping a realistic view. Her love and devotion will be forever in our hearts and deeply missed but her precious memories will live on.
Shirley enjoyed playing cards and was involved in many bridge and card clubs through the years. Her creative talents were seen in her paintings, sewing and baking. She was an avid bingo player and during her prime would be found playing games several times throughout the week. Leo and Shirley, together, shared a passion for travel. During their marriage they traveled to almost every state in the nation and several provinces in Canada. Camping was something Shirley loved doing with her family as well.
Her life was forever changed when she was blessed to be called Grandma. The time spent with her 3 grandchildren, Makenzie, Joshua and Addison, were her most cherished moments.
