Russell Courter, age 86, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Sunday, July 8, 2018, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Russell Junior Courter was born on June 16, 1932, in Rockwell City, IA, to parents Russell and Virginia (McClintock) Courter.
Junior grew up and attended school in Sac City. On January 26, 1950, Junior married the love of his life, Myrtie Wheeler, in Sioux City, IA. This union was blessed with 6 children: Zo Ellen, Russell, Donald, Mary Lou, Billie Joe, and John. Together, they raised their family in Lake City. Junior was employed as a truck driver until he retired in 1994.
He had a love for birdwatching and once he became homebound, he loved being able to watch the birds come to the feeders he had out for them through the window. Junior could often be found fishing in his spare time. More than anything, he loved and purely enjoyed his family. He looked forward to visits from his grandchildren. They were always sure to stop before or after any special events they had going on so that Grandpa could see them all gussied up. He will be so missed by all who knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish the memories made with Junior are his wife, Myrtie, of Sac City, IA; his children Zo Ellen (Ed) Daisy of Sac City, IA, Russell “Butch” (Leann) Courter of Lake City, IA, Mary Lou Booth of Sac City, IA, Billie Joe Courter of Yetter, IA, and John (Paula) Courter of Sac City, IA; eleven grandchildren; thirty-one great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; many extended family members and friends.
Junior was preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Virginia Courter; sister Barb Courter; son Donald Lee Courter; grandson Rhobby Courter; and great grandson Skyler Harlen.
