Willis “Bill” Beach, age 88, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Wednesday, June 27, 2018, at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City. Bill was born on February 2, 1930, in Sac City to Earl and Helca (Amer) Beach. He graduated from Sac City High School in 1949.
Bill was inducted into the United States Army on January 16, 1952, stationed at Fort Benning, GA, and served in the 11th Airborne Division where he trained as a paratrooper. He was honorably discharged on January 16, 1954 from Fort Campbell, KY.
On November 6, 1954, Bill was united in marriage to Marilyn Reising at St. Martin’s Catholic Church in Odebolt, IA. This union was blessed with a daughter Kathleen and four sons: Ron, Gary, David, and Brian. They made their home in Sac City.
Bill farmed until 1989 and then was groundkeeper at the Sac City Country Club for several years. He loved to golf and was able to golf until the age of 86. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan, loved to watch old westerns on TV; and was on a bowling league in his younger years. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sac City and an active member of the Knight’s of Columbus. He enjoyed morning coffee with his regular coffee gang.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished spending time with family. Bill will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn of Sac City; daughter Kathleen “Kate” Petersen and husband Marty of Parkersburg, IA; his sons: Gary Beach and wife Sharon of McKinney, TX, David Beach and wife Lori of Iowa Falls, IA, and Brian Beach of Sac City; daughter-in-law Mona Jones of Omaha, NE; grandchildren: Dru Beach, Wil (Laine) Beach, Jon “Jack” Beach, Kate Carr Beach, Emma Petersen, Elizabeth Petersen, Clara Petersen, Chad Beach, Kara (Jason) Wagoner, Cody Beach, Matthew Teeter, Eric (Christina) Beach, Trisha Miller, Brad (Brenda) Miller, and Dustin (Deidra) Miller; great-grandchildren: Myra Beach, Ayla, Brielya and Tayah Beach, Chase, Chelsey, and Landon Wagoner, Caden Beach, Owen, Brooke, and Joe Dale, Madison Miller, Kyle and Cassie Miller, Abbey, Allie, and Ashton Miller. Other survivors include his sisters: Marge Horton of Sioux City, IA, and Carol Zigalla of Oro Valley, AZ; many nieces, nephew, and extended family members.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Earl and Helca Beach; son Ron Beach; brother Melvin Beach; and sister Arline Horton.
