Rosemary Richardson, age 91, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018, at her home in Sac City surrounded by her family. Rosemary was born at home in Sac City on October 15, 1926, to Charles and Leone (Stedman) Farber. She graduated from Lake City High School and received a liberal arts degree at Stevens College in Columbia, MO.
On August 20, 1948, Rosemary was united in marriage to Neil Richardson at the First United Methodist Church in Sac City. This union was blessed with two children, Mary and Frank. Neil and Rosemary lived in the Sac City area all of their lives.
Rosemary was a wonderful and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She provided a comfortable and loving home for her family. She enjoyed attending her children’s activities, and especially looked forward to visits from the grandchildren. Reading, playing games, and working on puzzles were three of her favorite hobbies. Rosemary expressed herself using her artistic abilities when she created paintings. She loved music and loved to dance. She was an accomplished pianist who played both the piano and organ at the United Methodist Church as well as for Farber and Otteman Funeral Home. As a member of the United Methodist Church, she was active in many ministries including United Methodist Women, Women’s Circle, and the Knitting Ministry.
Rosemary’s commitment to the community was shown in many ways by volunteering her time by serving on the Sac Community School Board, the Sac City Library Board, as a Hospice respite volunteer, and as a hospital volunteer. She was involved in many social activities such as the Red Hat Chicks, numerous book clubs, the Fort Nightly Club, and the Sewing Club, as well as being a bridge player at the Sac Country Club.
Rosemary loved her family, her church, her community, her neighbors and all of her friends. She especially loved looking stylish and shopping for clothes, she was always so well put together. Even at the age of 91, she did not want to dress like an “old woman.” Rosemary will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, brother Paul, and husband Neil Richardson.
Survivors include her children: Mary Martha (Pat) Lyman of Cedar Falls, IA, and Frank Charles (Katherine) Richardson Lake View/Louisville, CO; grandchildren: Katy Lyman, Susan (Chris) Montague, Karen Richardson, and Sydney Richardson; and her grand-dog Cody.
The family requests that in LIEU OF FLOWERS, memorials go to the United Methodist Church in Sac City, IA, in Rosemary’s memory.
