Alben Freese, age 87 of Sac City, IA, passed away peacefully at Park View Rehabilitation Center in Sac City on Sunday, April 29, 2018.
Alben, whom the family lovingly called “Wimp”, was born on May 7, 1930, at home, south of Wall Lake, IA, to parents Gerd and Gesena (Ohden) Freese. He was baptized on September 7, 1930 at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church. Alben was a special needs child and loved dearly by his family. He attended some school but when he could no longer advance, he stayed home and helped on the farm. He carried buckets of water and feed to the livestock and became great at running the scoop shovel.
After the death of his father, Alben went to live at the Howard Center in Sac City and later to Park View. He was cared for by wonderful loving people at both places. Alben enjoyed people in general, conversing with them, showing off his hats, pen collection, and his watches that he was so proud of. He loved John Deere tractors and anything that had the John Deere symbol on it. Alben’s smile, laugh, and tad bit of orneriness will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Alben is survived by brother-in-law Dale (Freda) Meyer of Schaller, IA; sister-in-law Vadna Freese of Navasota, TX; several nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and friends.
Alben was preceded in death by his parents Gerd and Sena Freese; brother Merle Freese; sister Martha Meyer; half brother Bernen Freese; and half sister Gertrude Freese.
