Emma L. Duncan

Emma L. Duncan, age 94, of Sac City, IA, passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014 at Loring Hospital in Sac City. Emma was born on December 5, 1919, to Fred and Nellie (Rodgers) Friesner in Sac City. She graduated from Sac City High School in 1936.

On December 18, 1943, Emma was united in marriage to Glen Duncan in Long Beach, California. They made their home in Sac City. Emma was a busy homemaker with four children to care for. She enjoyed following her children’s activities and served as Den Mother for the Scouts, was a Booster Club Member and Hospital Auxilliary Member. She had worked as a clerk in the Fabric and Antique Shop in Sac City and also worked at Marjo’s Flower Shop. Emma was a life-long member of the United Methodist Church and active in the UMW.

Survivors include her children: Glenda (Robert) Olerich of West Des Moines, IA; Dennis (Jean) Duncan of Granger, IA; Douglas (Kathy) Duncan of Spencer, IA; and Dale (Sue) Duncan of Sac City, IA; five grandchildren: Todd (Christeen) Olerich of Harlan, IA, Jennifer Olerich of West Des Moines, IA, Jess (Carrie) Reiling of Dallas Center, IA, Travis (Joni) Reiling of Dayton, IA, and Jill (Dave) Klaver of Ankeny, IA; 10 great-grandchildren: Keira, Ceilia and Leigh Olerich; Brody and Macee Reiling; Morgan and Cole Reiling; and Keegan, Kane and Kolin Klaver; extended family members and friends.
