Jan Wickersheim was born on July 4, 1935, to Glen and Olga (Pearson) Dyslin near Aurelia, IA. The family lived near Aurelia where she attended school and graduated high school. She completed her education at Wayne State College earning a teaching degree.
She met the love of her life, Jack Wickersheim, and was united in marriage on July 24, 1955, at the United Methodist Church in Aurelia. They were blessed with three children, Mike, Vicki and Kirk. They lived on the Wickersheim family farm near Sac City where Jack farmed. Jan helped on the farm and was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker. She loved attending her children’s and grandchildren’s activities, playing cards and dice with family and friends and was a talented artist. At one time, Jan taught ceramic classes in her home. Morning coffee with friends and neighbors was always a good time. Jan and Jack enjoyed traveling and took many fishing trips together.
Jan passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at her home in Sac City. She is survived by her children: Mike (Jolene) Wickersheim of Rockwell City, IA, Vicki (Nathan) Hasty of Bouton, IA, and Kirk (Vickie) Wickersheim of San Leon, TX; four grandchildren: Nick (Christine) Hasty, Christopher (Marcie) Hasty, Michelle Wickersheim, and Megan (Chris) Wallace; great-grandchildren: Madison and Jack Hasty; Braden and Nathan Hasty; Garrett, Riley, and Molly Wickersheim Malone; extended family and a host of friends. Jan was preceded in death by her parents; husband Jack on February 24, 2014; and brother Glenny Dyslin.
