Sharon Moore, age 84, of Odebolt, IA, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Loring Hospital in Sac City, IA, surrounded by her loved ones. Sharon Genevieve Moore was born on November 6, 1941, to parents Kenneth and Genevieve (Bueoy) Moore in rural Mapleton, IA. She grew up with her family in Smithland, IA. She attended elementary school and high school in Smithland. Sharon graduated with the class of 1959. During her life, she raised three children, Scott, Vickie, and Valarie. Her family was the joy of her life.
Sharon also worked as the Head Cook at Westwood Schools in Sloan, IA, retiring early due to fibromyalgia. Sharon had a wonderful positive attitude throughout her life. When asked how things were going, she would reply “fantastic” or “great.” She kept a daily diary of her life and family activities. Sharon enjoyed fishing and playing cards with family and friends. Her other hobbies included playing bingo and photography. She loved to sew and was very skilled at making clothes for her family and dolls for the girls. Her family and friends will dearly miss her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Scott Blackman (Brenda Blackman) of Whiting, IA, Vickie Schilmoeller (Robert Brewer) of Ida Grove, IA, and Valarie Hall (Jim Bendixen) of Odebolt, IA; brother, Michael Moore of Des Moines, IA; sister Sandra Banta of Bella Vista, AK; grandchildren, Valarie Jimenez, Tyler Blackman, Amanda Banta, Travis Blackman, Samantha Eickholt, Brody, Lucas and Lindsy Peters, great-grandchildren, Tanner Gotto, Tayanna Gotto, Joe Shawn Banta, Aleeyah Banta, Alivia Loutsch, Jeremiah Jacks and Charlie Soathoff.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Genevieve Moore, and her siblings, Shirley Adams and Randy Moore.
