Debra (Deb) Straight lost her courageous battle with cancer on Friday, August 7, 2026, surrounded by family and friends at her home in Arthur, IA.

Deb was born July 27, 1956, in Carroll, IA, to parents John and Joan Vrana. The family lived in Sac City, and Deb graduated from Sac Community High with the class of 1975.

In 1992, she married Richard Straight in Carnarvon, and they eventually made their home in Arthur. She had several different jobs over the years before she became ill. The one she enjoyed most was caring for others as a CNA. She always enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing cards or just visiting. She loved her pets, and usually had a dog or cat on her lap.

Survivors include her best friend Kelli Washburn, daughters Nicole Campbell, Janel Cooper, and Ruth Straight, grandsons Jacob, Trey Ethan, Garrett, James Nicolas, and Phillip, granddaughter Emelia, and sisters Bonnie (Bruce) Rahn, Judy (Greg) Peck, Susan Berger, and Marie Kirsch.

Deb was preceded in death by her husband Richard, infant daughter Michelle, sons Brian Campbell, and Richard Straight, parents John and Joan Vrana, and brother John Vrana.
