Elsie Ogren, age 93 of Jackson, MI, formerly of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Elsie Ann Hansen was born on June 18, 1932, the daughter of Freda Hansen. She and her mother resided with her grandparents, Hans K. and Kirstine Hansen in Exira, IA. She was baptized at home in 1940 and confirmed in March of 1947 at Oak Field Lutheran Church in Brayton, IA. Elsie attended elementary school just across the road from their home and later attended high school in Audubon and Exira.

On May 27, 1950, Elsie was united in marriage to Harvey Robinson. To this union, four children were welcomed through adoption: twins, Larry and Jerry, followed by Diana and Dale. Elsie and Harvey farmed in the Anita and Bridgewater, IA, areas before purchasing their home place north of Cumberland, IA.

In October of 1979, Elsie and Harvey divorced and she moved to Anita. On April 28, 1984, Elsie married Dennis Ogren. Together, they farmed the family farm until 1994, when they moved to Wall Lake.

Elsie worked as a waitress for many years and also at New Hope in Carroll, IA. In December of 2004 at the age of 71, Elsie was forced to retire after an accident, otherwise she would have continued to work as she enjoyed staying busy.

Elsie had a deep love for her family and took great joy in being involved in their lives. She especially enjoyed taking pictures of her loved ones and preserving those memories. In her free time, she liked playing cards and bingo, and enjoyed bowling. She was proud of her Danish heritage and collected Danish Mother’s Day plates (Mors Dag) beginning in 1969, and completed a full collection.

Elsie and Dennis always enjoyed time spent in Branson, MO, where they stayed at their resort, the Grand Crowne, forming many lasting friendships over the years.

She is survived by her children Larry (Judy) Robinson, Dale (Julie) Robinson, Diana (Bob) Hayden; stepchildren James (fiancé) Deb) Ogren, Jeff (Hope) Ogren, and Danette (Chester) Starr; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Mary (Al) Osborn; many nieces, nephews, other extended family members and friends.

Elsie was preceded in death by her mother, Freda Hansen; husband Dennis Ogren; son Jerry Robinson; and stepdaughter Diana Wiley.

“Elsie and Dennis were like family as they were neighbors at the resort in Branson and always had the door open just a bit in case anyone would stop by to visit. Such great memories of our fun times playing games and dressing crazy for parties and Owners Week at the resort. An owl always found it's way to live with Elsie and join her collection. She always made room for Dennis and his John Deere collections too......You will be missed! ”
